56.
Brake
Adjustments
a. General. Brake adjustment to compensate for normal wear
is
termed
"minor
adjustment."
Following
a
rebuild
or
when
new linings are installed, each brake shoe must be adjusted
to  center  brake  shoe  arc  in  relation  to  the  brake  drum.  This
is called "major adjustment. "
Note. Always check wheel bearing adjustment (par. 53c(2)) before ad-
justing brakes. A satisfactory brake adjustment cannot be obtained unless
wheel healings are in proper adjustment.  Do not adjust brakcs when drums
are hot.
