6-13. AIR LINES AND FITTINGS REPLACEMENT.

Jack stands
Equipment Conditions:
Semitrailer disconnected from prime mover
Landing legs down, ground boards emplaced
Tires chocked
Brake air reservoirs drained
WARNING
Wear protective goggles when underneath trailer. Insure air
tanks are drained of pressurized air. Failure to do so could
result in injury to personnel.
Insure air tanks are drained of all pressurized air. Pressurized
air (100 psi /690 kPa) may cause injury to personnel or damage
to the equipment.
Do not over tighten hose end brass fittings. The fittings should be
installed finger tight with an additional 1 to 1 turn using a
wrench. Do not twist hoses. Check for air leaks. Failure to heed
this Warning may cause the fittings fail, brake lock-up and
possible injury or death to personnel.
NOTE
See Appendices H 19, H-20, and H-33 for technical data on the
-
air brake system.
To access glad-hand fitting and hoses upper deck boards must
be removed. Check for leaks prior to re -installing boards. Deck
boards DO NOT have to be removed to replace glad-hands.
General Procedures:
a. Removal.
1.
Remove hose clips (13) and hose clamps (14) as necessary.
2.
Remove two adapters (17) from two gladhands and remove two hoses (16), remove tow adapters
(15), tow tube adapters (1) and two tube s (2 & 8).
3.
Remove adapter (1) from air reservoir.
4.
Remove pipe tee (12) from ECU valve and elbow (3) from front air reservoir and remove
tube (15).
5.
Remove two elbows (3) from front and rear air reservoirs and remove tube (2).
