GENERAL
The VLAD is a one-time use item. However, if the VLAD was deployed but not used to stop a vehicle, perform the repacking
instructions in this work package to allow the item to be re-used. If the VLAD was deployed in wet weather conditions, the
net must be laid out to dry to prevent mold growth before repacking.
REPACKING THE NET DEVICE
NOTE
Two people are required to repack the VLAD net device.
1.
If net device was anchored, remove the two plastic bags from pouch on outside of carrying bag marked "DEPLOYMENT
LANYARDS". Remove anchor pegs from ground, if used. Remove and fold anchor lanyards and deployment lanyards
from net device, if used. Place items in proper plastic bag. Place the two plastic bags back in pouch marked "DEPLOY-
MENT LANYARDS".
WARNING
The VLAD carrying bag contains a net device with two rows of sharp barbed spikes on the leading edge. DO
NOT sit, stand, or lay on packed carrying bag to prevent personnel injury.
Avoid unnecessary handling of net device to prevent hand injury from barbed spikes. Wearing leather gloves is
recommended.
To prevent personnel injury, do not step on barbed spikes on leading edge of net device.
2.
Remove any heavy debris if net device is dirty. Wearing leather gloves is recommended.
