Calculator. The calculator is stored in the laboratory cabinets. It has both a display and a built-in printer. It is
solid state and operates on four "AA" alkaline batteries or an AC adapter that will plug into a 110V, 60Hz, single-
phase convenience outlet.

Carbon Residue Test Apparatus. The carbon residue test apparatus is stored in the laboratory cabinets. It is
used to determine the carbon residue of petroleum products in accordance with ASTM test D-189. This method
determines the amount of carbon residue left after evaporating an oil under specified conditions, and is intended to
provide an indication of the relative carbon forming propensity of the oil. The apparatus consists of a burner, metal
funnel, iron crucible, wood block, stand, and sand cup, wire stand, ceramic cup, porcelain ring and a gas control
valve.

Tetraethyl Lead Apparatus. This apparatus is stored in the laboratory cabinets. It is used to test for tetraethyl
lead in petroleum in accordance with ASTM test D-2547. The apparatus consists of a boiling flask, heating tube,
glassware and a rheostat.

Ice Making Bag. The ice making bag is stored in the gas cylinder storage locker. It is used with the carbon
dioxide gas to make dry ice which is used in performing certain tests in the laboratory. The bag is provided with
fittings to attach it to the carbon dioxide gas cylinder.

Gas-Oil Distillation Unit. The gas-oil distillation unit is mounted on the countertop to the left of the side door.
This unit is used to conduct ASTM test D-86.
