binding.
(2)
Release
brakes,
and
note
whether
brake
air
chamber
push
rods
return
to
released
position
promptly
and
without
binding.

Disconnect
flexible
air
chamber.
(2)
Disconnect  push  rod  yoke  at  slack
adjuster
by
re-
moving  cotter  pin  and  clevis  pin.
(3)
Remove
two
hex
nuts
and
from
mount-
ing
bolts
beneath
brake
air
chamber
and
lift
cham-
ber off mounting bracket.

Installation.
(1) Position brake air chamber on mounting bracket and
install two 5/8-inch lockwashers and 5/8-inch hex nuts
on mounting bolts beneath chamber.
(2)
Connect  yoke  of  push  rod  to  slack  adjuster  with
1/2
x 1 13/64 clevis pin and 1/8 x 7/8 cotter pin.
(3) Connect flexible hose assembly to brake air chamber.
(4) Adjust brakes (par. 56c).

Perform
leakage
tests

Adjusters

and
M269)
a.
Operating
Tests. Adjust brakes (par. 56c). Apply brakes
several times and note movement of brake air chamber push
rod and slack adjuster (fig. 18). Push rod should move
inch but not over 2 inches, for full application of brakes.
Should
slack
adjuster
move
without
turning
brake
camshaft,
replace
slack
adjuster.
