CAGING AND UNCAGING SPRING BRAKES - Continued
2. Uncaging Spring Brakes.
WARNING
Chock wheels to prevent semitrailer from moving when brakes are
released (caged). Failure to follow this warning may result in serious
injury or death.
a. Remove nut (4) and washer (3) from release stud (2) using 3/4 in. wrench.
b. Remove release stud (2) from access hole (1).
NOTE
Brake chamber release studs may be stored in roadside toolbox.
c. Install release stud (2) on airbrake chamber (6) with washer (3) and nut (4) .
d. Install cap (5) on access hole (1).
e. Repeat steps a through d for remaining spring brake chambers.
f.
Remove and stow chocks.
